Jeff Conway’s two-run single helped Texas beat Grand Canyon, 10-1, Friday night and give Longhorn Coach Cliff Gustafson the career record for Division I college baseball victories.
Gustafson has 1,333, putting him one ahead of Rod Dedeaux, who was 1,332-571-11 in 45 years at USC.
Gustafson, 63, needed 258 fewer games to reach Dedeaux’s mark. He is 1,333-325-2 in 27 years at Texas.
Texas, which trailed by 1-0 early in the game, moved in front with a three-run sixth inning, sparked by Conway’s two-run single.
