Esperanza’s Kierulff Posts High Jump Best

LOS ALAMITOS — Esperanza junior Kristy Kierulff cleared 5 feet 10 3/4 in the high jump, the best mark for a high school girl in the nation this season, as Esperanza beat Los Alamitos, 84-37, in an Empire League track and field meet.
Kierulff won the State championship as a freshman with a jump of 5-10. She has cleared 5-8 or higher seven times this year.
Sophomore Kelly O’Connor won the long jump (16-10 1/2), triple jump (36-9) and discus (103-7) for Esperanza (4-0 in league).
