Japanese Lawmaker Is Stripped of Immunity

TOKYO — With 30 Liberal Democrat Party members absenting themselves, Japan’s lower house Friday voted unanimously to strip a former Liberal Democrat construction minister of his parliamentary immunity. Hours later, Kishiro Nakamura, 44, accused of accepting a $95,238 bribe from Kajima Construction Co. to quash a bid-rigging probe by the Fair Trade Commission, surrendered himself at the Tokyo district prosecutor’s office and was arrested.
