OUTLOOK

Sherwood was hired in early February after eight years as the junior varsity coach at Crespi. He’s still getting acquainted with the team and isn’t sure who will start. “I’m still trying to learn the kids’ names,” he said. “It’s really going to be a challenge but I’m looking forward to it.” Pawlic hit .490 last season.

OUTLOOK

Wagner says one of the team’s biggest problems last season was academic ineligibility among players. Oliva was one of the players affected. He was 2-1 with a 2.4 ERA before becoming ineligible. Oliva and Aiccino will divide the starting duties and Gutierrez, who batted .294 last season, will be a top reliever. Alvarez hit .307 as a sophomore and will bat leadoff for the Valiants.
