NHL ROUNDUP : Clark Moves Maple Leafs Into Tie for First
- Share via
The Toronto Maple Leafs are used to working a little extra when they play their Central Division rivals, the Detroit Red Wings, so Friday was nothing new.
For the fourth time in less than a year, including two playoff games, the Maple Leafs won at Detroit, 6-5, in overtime on Wendel Clark’s third goal of the game.
It moved the Maple Leafs into a tie with the Red Wings for first place in the East, though Detroit has a game in hand.
It was Clark’s second hat trick in as many games.
“I think we’ve been very lucky,” said Clark. “They have a great, great hockey club, and we have to play our best just to compete with them. This is a great rivalry.”
