Deneke to Coach Football at Dana Hills

DANA POINT — Trace Deneke, who coached two years at Encinitas San Dieguito, has been named football coach at Dana Hills.
He replaces Jack Murry, who resigned for health reasons after one season. The Dolphins were 1-9 last year.
Deneke’s teams were 3-7 both years at San Dieguito. After their offensive line was decimated by injuries, the Mustangs turned from the run to the pass and led the county in that area in 1993. He left a program that will have 14 returning starters this fall.
“The opportunity to coach in the Southern Section, and in Orange County, you have to take advantage of those opportunities,” Deneke said. “North (San Diego) County is a tremendous proving ground and I hope it will provide a foundation for coaching in the Southern Section.”
