Golf Tournament to Start Friday

NEWPORT BEACH — Golfers from the Nike and PGA tours will join amateur partners Friday and Saturday for the 20th Taco Bell Newport Classic at the Newport Beach Country Club.
PGA Tour player Bob May of La Habra, PGA Tour winner Sam Randolph and Paul Goydos, who finished tied for eighth in the recent Hawaiian Open, will be among the players competing for the $13,000 first prize in the pro-am event, which begins at 7 a.m. each day and is free to spectators.
The tournament will include a free clinic by Leadbetter Golf Academy pro Brian Mogg Friday at 3:30 p.m. on the club’s driving range.
Proceeds will benefit Hoag Hospital’s Emergency Care Unit.
