Streisand and The Times

In last Sunday’s Film Clips roundup of the year’s notable quotes, Chris Willman repeated a quote attributed to Barbra Streisand by Spy magazine, in reference to celebrities invited to the White House: “Why Sharon Stone? She doesn’t know anything about policy.” Our item prompted the following response:
The quote which Chris Willman attributed to me in his Sunday article was false and ridiculous. But what really offended me was that the Los Angeles Times would stoop to quoting Spy magazine as its source without seeking to verify such an offensive statement.
However, that pales against your paper’s tabloid-like presentation of the allegations against the President of the United States.
