GIRLS’ BASKETBALL : Slow Start Costly for Dorsey, 66-37

Alexis Glenn scored a game-high 18 points, but Dorsey never recovered from a sluggish start and dropped the final of the Artesia tournament to Carson, 66-37, on Wednesday.
Glenn, who was named to the all-tournament team, was the lone Dorsey player in double figures. Kendra Callis added eight points for the Dons.
Dorsey, which suffered its first defeat, was limited to five points in the second quarter and trailed 28-13 at halftime.
Dorsey 73, Centennial 48--The Dorsey trio of Alexis Glenn, Murrae Glenn and Kendra Callis combined for 64 points in the semifinal game of the Artesia tournament Tuesday. The Dons raced to a 20-2 lead after the first quarter and a 41-14 halftime advantage.
Bell Gardens 61, California 22--Monica Malagon scored a game-high 19 points and had seven rebounds and six steals as the Lancers rolled to a nonleague victory at home Tuesday.
Malagon, a senior forward, also made nine of 12 free throws for Bell Gardens, which had 32 steals. Teammates Adriana Villalobos and Cristina Lopez added 12 points each.
Bell Gardens raced to a 14-point first-quarter lead and limited the Condors to six points or less in the final three quarters to win its second game in a row.
