DANA POINT — Sharon Waits, a former deputy city clerk in San Diego County, has been named Dana Point city clerk effective Jan. 10.
Waits was selected by the City Council over about 40 applicants. The salary range for the job is $4,081 to $4,979 a month.
Waits’ predecessor, Katherine Hollywood, resigned last summer. When Waits takes over, interim City Clerk Cathy Catlett will return to her assistant city clerk position, a job she has held since May, 1990.
Waits worked for the city of El Cajon as deputy city clerk from December, 1982, to the present. Before that she was the secretary to the city manager.
Waits has a bachelor’s degree in public administration from San Diego State University.
