ANAHEIM — Dave Wilson, cross-country coach at Katella High the last six years, has resigned his walk-on position and will move to New Mexico on Jan. 8 to be girls’ track and field coach at Albuquerque High, Wilson said Friday.
Wilson, 32, a Katella graduate, had teams win four Empire League titles, an Orange County championship and two Southern Section championships. This year’s boys’ team finished first in the section II finals and third in the State Division II finals.
“I’m moving for positive reasons, not negative ones,” said Wilson, who graduated from Eastern New Mexico. “I’m looking at this as an advancement.”
