SANTA ANA : Man Shot, Killed by Marijuana Thief

A man who grew marijuana in his back yard was fatally shot early Wednesday by an intruder who was trying to steal the plants, police said.
Daniel Vice, 47, was sleeping about 5:45 a.m. at his home in the 1300 block of N. King St. when noises woke him, Lt. Bob Chavez said.
Vice went outside to investigate and surprised whoever was cutting some of the marijuana plants, police said.
The intruder shot Vice in the upper body and ran away, Chavez said. Investigators do not know if the intruder got any marijuana.
Vice died at UCI Medical Center in Orange.
Officers continued to question possible witnesses, but had no suspects.
