Even in this, the year of the field goal, Jeff Jaeger has stood out.
His 48-yard field goal Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks was Jaeger’s 29th of the season, giving him the NFL lead and enabling him to equal his 1991 club record.
Jaeger is also pointing his toe in the direction of another club mark. With 108 points in 13 games and three to play, he is only nine shy of the record 117 points amassed by kicker/quarterback George Blanda in 1968 in a 14-game season.

Defensive lineman Anthony Smith, bothered for a month by a bruised finger on his left hand, is wearing a cast on the finger.
Since Smith got hurt by banging the finger on the helmet of Kansas City Chief quarterback Dave Krieg, his sack total has suffered.
After getting 11 sacks in his first seven games, Smith has only one in the last six games.
Shut out in that department Sunday, Smith said afterward, “I want to apologize to the fans for my play.”

Disadvantaged children throughout the Southland will be attending Sunday’s game at the Coliseum against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, courtesy of the Touchdown for Youth program, a project jointly run by the Raiders and the Los Angeles Sports Council, a nonprofit corporation.
Each $50 donation is put toward transportation to the game, a ticket and refreshments for one youngster. Contributions can be made by calling (213) 629-0613.
