COLLEGE BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Reeves Leads No. 13 Arizona to Victory Over New Orleans

Khalid Reeves scored 26 points to lead 13th-ranked Arizona to an 80-62 victory over New Orleans on Tuesday night at Tucson.
Reeves, who averages 22.8 points, scored the first seven points of the second half during a 12-0 Arizona run that broke open a close game.
New Orleans (2-2), which trailed at halftime, 31-29, had won 11 consecutive road games and 27 of its last 30 regular-season games. Its three previous losses were by a combined seven points, including a 72-69 loss to Arizona at New Orleans last season and an 84-82 overtime loss to Purdue last week.
Dylan Rigdon’s three-point basket at the first-half buzzer put Arizona (5-0) ahead to stay.
Arizona made only 30.6% of its shots in the first half, making only three of 16 three-point attempts. But the Wildcats outscored the Privateers, 32-8, to open the second half.
Arizona made seven of 14 three-point shots in the second half.
The Wildcats shot 41.8% overall while limiting New Orleans to 35% shooting.
Arizona’s biggest advantage was 71-44 after Reeves scored his last two points on a layup.
Melvin Simon had 11 points and 13 rebounds for New Orleans.

Derek Anderson scored six of his 18 points during a 15-0 run that helped Ohio State (4-1) to a 79-56 rout of UC Santa Barbara (2-3) at Columbus, Ohio. . . . Steve Nash scored 29 points to lead Santa Clara (4-2) to a 75-67 victory over Oregon (1-3) at Eugene, Ore.
Arturas Karnishovas scored 19 of his 22 points in the first half to help Seton Hall (3-2) to an 81-56 victory over Iona (2-4) at East Rutherford, N.J. . . . Russell Larson had 26 points and 12 rebounds to lead Brigham Young (4-2) to a 78-65 victory over Utah State (1-3) at Provo, Utah. . . . Shawn Respert scored 25 points as Michigan State (6-2) defeated Illinois Chicago (2-4), 90-77, at East Lansing, Mich.
