Lake Wohlford to Open With Plenty of Trout
- Share via
While fishing activity slows for the holidays at some Southern California lakes, historic Lake Wohlford near Escondido in San Diego County will be heavily planted when it opens its season Friday at 6 a.m.
Wohlford, which dates to 1895, has been planted with 4,600 pounds of trout, up to two pounds each, and also has catfish, largemouth bass, bluegill and crappies. There is RV and tent camping, cabins and a restaurant-tackle store. Although the lake is somewhat low, boat launching is good.
