COSTA MESA : Wreckage Warns of Drinking, Driving
- Share via
The Police Department has placed a wrecked car at the intersection of Newport Boulevard and 17th Street to remind people that drinking and driving don’t mix.
Sgt. David Walker said a man was killed in the car when it smashed into a telephone pole on Bristol Street. He said the crash involved alcohol.
A sign in front of the wreck cautions drivers to “think before you drink.”
Walker said the car will remain on display until early January, when holiday partying has ended. “This time of year, there’s a tendency to have more drinking and driving,” he said.
The department has displayed wrecks during the holiday season for the last two years, Walker said. Private towing companies brought the car to 17th Street last week. Another destroyed car is in front of Estancia High School, Walker said. That one also involved a drunken driver.
