Gasoline Prices Lowest in Seven Christmases: The average price for self-serve unleaded gasoline fell to $1.091 per gallon Tuesday, down 2.5 cents from Nov. 16, an American Automobile Assn. survey shows. Even before the latest drop in pump prices, the AAA predicted the busiest holiday traffic since 1985, when it began keeping holiday records. “It looks like (holiday travel) will be a record. Low gas prices are part of the reason,” said AAA spokesman Geoff Sundstrom. The survey shows 35.2 million Americans plan to travel during the Christmas and New Year holidays. Although the price was the cheapest for the holiday season in seven years, it was beat in September, when AAA said self-serve unleaded cost $1.08 per gallon.
