Notes about your surroundings Bay Tours--A guided tour of the Upper Newport Bay Ecological Reserve will be offered Saturday. The naturalist-led tour will begin at 9 a.m.
Some of the birds likely to be seen include grebes, terns, ducks and other waterfowl.
The tour is free and lasts about 2 1/2 hours.
Those who would like to participate are asked to meet at Shellmaker Island off Backbay Drive in Newport Beach. For more information, call (714) 640-6746. Young Audubons Session--South Coast Audubon, a chapter of the National Audubon Society, will hold a Young Audubons class at 3 p.m. Wednesday 12/15.
Mourning doves will be the focus of the class and participants will also make a holiday ornament.
It is open to children ages 5 through 12.
The class will be held at the Boys and Girls Club, 1304 Calle Valle, San Clemente.
