IRVINE — Kevin Simmons signed a letter of intent to attend UC Irvine on a basketball scholarship next fall, UC Irvine Coach Rod Baker said Thursday.
Simmons, a 6-foot-8 forward from Tilden High School in Brooklyn, N.Y., had signed with UC Irvine last spring but didn’t meet NCAA academic requirements.
Simmons, who averaged 21 points and 17 rebounds in high school, is enrolled at Redemption Christian Academy in Troy, N.Y. He will start classes at UC Irvine next fall.
