Clougherty Packing Co. Wins Financing: The Vernon-based firm, which makes Dodger Dog and other processed meats under the Farmer John label, will receive $7 million in financing through tax-exempt bonds issued by the city of Vernon, state Treasurer Kathleen Brown announced. The funding, approved by the California Industrial Development Financing Advisory Commission chaired by Brown, will allow Clougherty to replace its outdated building and equipment at its meat processing plant and add 100 workers to its staff of 1,100. The CIDFAC helps small manufacturing firms in California obtain low-cost capital for expansion, in exchange for providing additional jobs.
