1993 PREP FOOTBALL ALL-STARS : Southeast All-Stars Also Pack Punch on Ground

SOUTHEAST AREA — Ground attacks and big linemen also dominate The Times’ Southeast All-Star High School Football Team.
Ten schools are represented on the first team, led by Del Rio co-champions Whittier and Santa Fe with four selections each. Suburban League titlist La Mirada netted three.
The team, chosen primarily through a poll of coaches, includes wide receiver Victor Zapata (Whittier) and tight end Guillermo Chavez (Montebello).
Offensive linemen are James Sherman (Whittier), Jim Hope and Brent Richardson (Santa Fe), Jose Murillo (Schurr) and Ken Watts (La Mirada).
The quarterback is Bryan LaVigne (Whittier). He is flanked by running backs Jarvis Watson (Warren), Willie Kaholokula (Santa Fe) and Rich Avina (St. Paul).
Phil Torres (Santa Fe) is the kicker.
Defensive linemen are Greg Ford (Whittier), Jerry Lemon (La Mirada), Donnie Gunritz (La Serna) and Chester Jusay (Gahr).
The linebackers are Ben Adams (La Mirada), Victor Key (St. Paul) and John Gonzalez (Schurr).
Defensive backs are Chuck Hildago (Schurr), Fred Montiel (Montebello), Javelin Guidry (Gahr) and Enrique Jimenez (El Rancho).
The team members will be honored at a breakfast at 9 a.m. Sunday at the Sheraton Long Beach.
Awards for the best lineman and back, and coach of the year will be announced at the breakfast.
