PREP SOCCER : El Toro Tops San Clemente to Advance at Tournament

Chris Linkhorn scored the winning goal on a penalty kick with 13 minutes remaining to lead El Toro to a 3-2 victory over San Clemente in the quarterfinals of the Irvine boys’ soccer tournament Monday.
Gerald Nedelykovic and Jose Lopez each scored first-half goals to give the Chargers (2-1) the early lead. Felix Hernandez and Rob Oveson scored for San Clemente (2-1).
In other Irvine tournament games:
Corona del Mar 2, Foothill 0--Eric Olsen and Roberto Intriago scored goals for Corona del Mar (3-0).
In the Irvine girls’ soccer tournament quarterfinals:
El Toro 3, University 0--Jen Fricke scored two goals for El Toro (3-1). University is 1-1.
Laguna Hills 1, Villa Park 1 (Laguna Hills advanced on penalty kicks, 4-3)--Kathy Petersen scored for Laguna Hills (3-1) and Sondra Carlson scored for Villa Park.
Woodbridge 0, Santa Margarita 0 (Woodbridge advances on penalty kicks, 4-3)--Lizzy Lemire scored the winning goal in the shootout for Woodbridge (3-1).
In consolation games:
Aliso Niguel 3, Laguna Beach 0--Freshman Nicole Trott scored three first-half goals for Aliso Niguel (1-1-1).
Dana Hills 9, Fullerton 1--Katie Wiechman scored three goals and Jessica Stahlin added two for Dana Hills (2-1).
Newport Harbor 4, San Clemente 1--Jill Nelsen scored three goals and Jenny St. Sure added one for Newport Harbor (1-2).
In nonleague boys’ soccer:
Anaheim 4, Loara 1--Juan Lopez and Jose Sanchez each scored two goals for visiting Anaheim (3-0).
Cypress 6, Century 1--Bryan Huskey scored three goals for host Cypress (4-1).

Costa Mesa 2, Garden Grove 1--Jessica Schroeder and Tesea Brown scored goals for visiting Costa Mesa (2-0).
Orange 6, Magnolia 0--Jenni Hodges scored three goals for visiting Orange. Rebecca Nelson had nine saves for Magnolia (0-2).
