American Airlines Flight Attendants Seek Probe: The flight attendants union asked the federal government to investigate what it called harassment and discrimination against members who waged a strike against the airline. Denise Hedges, president of the Assn. of Professional Flight Attendants, requested the probe in a letter to Labor Secretary Robert Reich. Hedges complained that more than 70 union members were suspended while the company investigated what she called “trivial” allegations over strike-related activities. More than two dozen flight attendants remain on suspension, she said. American spokesman Tim Kincaid called the allegations “sheer lunacy.”
