The Board of Education has awarded a construction contract for the expansion and modernization of Alhambra High School, and ground is expected to broken at the end of January.
Gentosi Bros. of Irvine will build a three-story academic building with 57 classrooms, a library, and underground and off-site parking at the 2nd Street campus.
“Our facilities at Alhambra High School . . . are in dire need of expansion and upgrading,” Supt. Heber J. Meeks said.
Many of the school’s 3,400 students are housed in portable classrooms.
