Hernandez Excels as L.A. Baptist Dominates Ontario Christian, 45-0

ONTARIO — L.A. Baptist High moved into the Southern Section Division X championship game with a dominating 45-0 victory over Ontario Christian in a semifinal game Friday night at Ontario.
L.A. Baptist (12-0) will face the winner of tonight’s Brethren Christian-Yucca Valley game for the title.
L.A. Baptist’s senior quarterback Zack Hernandez threw two touchdown passes to Jim Romero and ran for another. Hernandez completed 19 of 30 passes for 264 yards in 3 1/2 quarters.
The Knights exploded for 38 first-half points. Hernandez’s twin brother, Matt, contributed a pair of touchdowns on one-yard plunges.
With three minutes to play, L.A. Baptist safety Jim Collard suffered a neck injury. He was taken by ambulance to Chino Community Medical Center for tests.
Dr. Steve Borders, who examined Collard as he lay on the field, said the senior had feeling in his extremities and was conscious.
