Auto Sales Surged 11.8% in November

DETROIT — The U.S. auto industry had its best month in more than two years during November as light trucks powered an 11.8% gain in overall vehicle sales.
Total vehicle sales, including imports, rose 10.8%. Sales of light trucks were up 17.2%, and car sales were up 6.7%.
Highlights included Chrysler Corp.’s strongest November in history.
The orders indicate auto production will continue to be a major factor in the overall strengthening of the economy.
Light truck sales soared 19.9% in the Nov. 20-30 period, car sales 6.1%.
