Show to Honor ‘Musical Encounter’ Founder

Huell Howser will host a TV tribute to Sylvia Kunin, founder of the “Musical Encounter” television series and a longtime activist in trying to interest children in classical music. “A Musical Encounter Celebration,” taking note of Kunin’s 80th birthday, is scheduled Dec. 19 on KCET-TV Channel 28.
Guests on the program will include conductor Michael Tilson Thomas, pianist Horation Gutierrez and composer Elmer Bernstein.
