OUTLOOK
Entering her third year as coach of the Argonauts, Foster is cautiously optimistic. “With the exception of Michol Murray and the few returning players, we’re going to be a very young team,” she said. But, if the Argonauts can get some leadership from Murray, who was the team’s only all-league player last year, and get tough on defense, there may be a chance. Foster said she has a lot of confidence in her players, calling them athletic, competitive and aggressive. Because of Murray, Foster said, other teams expect Garden Grove to be in the thick of things. Not counting Rancho Alamitos, which Foster expects to finish first in the league, she has confidence the Argonauts will be able hold their own. Foster lists seven top newcomers, with two of them transfer students. Huizar, a guard from Bolsa Grande, and Monsoor, a forward from Villa Park, could be important factors. No matter how it might look on paper, Foster said, when your dealing with youth, anything can happen. “We are in the position to be a spoiler. But our youth will determine our fate.”
