WORLD IN BRIEF : TURKEY : Kurdish Rebels Free 2 Foreign Hostages

Kurdish separatists have released their last foreign hostages, an American and a New Zealander kidnaped last month in eastern Turkey, diplomats said. The men were identified as Colin Patrick Starger of the United States and Ellis Dougal of New Zealand. Guerrillas belonging to the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) had announced earlier this month that they would release the hostages as a goodwill gesture to mark the party’s 15th anniversary Nov. 27. The PKK, fighting for self-rule in Turkey’s Kurdish-dominated eastern and southeastern provinces, had kidnaped 20 foreigners.
