* Shelley B. Valk has been appointed vice president of finance for Pacific Communications Inc., a Santa Ana manufacturer of cardiac patient monitoring products. She succeeds Gretchen K. Letson, who has retired. Before joining the company, Valk was vice president of finance for Hybrid Designs Inc. in Costa Mesa.
