“Here We Go!! Love, Lenny,” an exhibit commemorating the 50th anniversary of Leonard Bernstein’s 1943 conducting debut with the New York Philharmonic at Carnegie Hall, opens to the public today at the Rose Museum in the hall.
The title of the exhibit, which will run through March 1, is taken from a notation Bernstein made on a copy of an article announcing his appointment as assistant conductor of the philharmonic.
The exhibit chronicles Bernstein’s early years.
The Rose Museum is open to the public every day except Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and to concert-goers during intermission. Admission is free.
Visitors may tour Carnegie Hall at 11:30 a.m. and 2 and 3 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. The cost is $6 for adults, $5 for students and senior citizens.
If you want a little sustenance with your sightseeing, try Carnegie Hall’s “Tour and Tea” package for $27. It includes tea, savories and desserts at the Russian Tea Room after a tour at 2 or 3 p.m.
Tickets are available in the Main Hall lobby, 154 W. 57th St., beginning at 11 a.m. on tour days.
