Players International Posts $3.9-Million Profit

Players International Inc., a casino operator headquartered in Calabasas, earned a profit of $3.9 million in its fiscal second quarter that ended Sept. 30, on $20.3 million in revenue from its riverboat gambling operations.
In the same period a year ago, Players had a net loss of $1.4 million from discontinued operations. There is no comparable year-earlier sales figure.
The company’s profit in the latest quarter included after-tax charges of $715,600 related to opening its Lake Charles, La., riverboat and $541,000 for outside directors’ stock options.
For the six months, Players reported a profit of $10.4 million on $38.6 million of revenue. There is no comparable sales figure for last year’s first half.
