Re “Secrets of a Capitol Hill Native” by Katy Kelley in “Traveling in Style,” Oct. 17: What’s so secret about yesterday’s news?
The cited 1925 Klu Klux Klan parade, the Watergate office building and Martin Luther King Jr.’s Freedom March were all national events any non-District of Columbian would know about.
As a D.C. native for 42 years, now living in Los Angeles, this insider took visiting outsiders to the Old Executive Office Building, the 19th-Century Renwick Gallery or the obligatory stroll along the C&O; Canal towpath.
My Washington, D.C., is a people’s Washington, not one of just news events.
TERRY KING, Los Angeles
