* Business travelers who didn’t book transatlantic tickets during the fare war scheduled to end last Friday have another chance. The ticketing deadline has been extended to Nov. 1. Fares to most major European destinations are as low as $598 round-trip and require a seven-day advance purchase. Fares to London, Paris and Frankfurt are lower but have different restrictions.
* Trans World Airlines has signed on Los Angeles-based Alpha Air to handle regional flights to smaller airports. Alpha is scheduled to link TWA’s Los Angeles operations to Burbank, Mammoth Lakes, Palm Springs, Orange County, South Lake Tahoe and the Grand Canyon beginning Dec. 1.
