Man Dies When Car Flips on Freeway

VAN NUYS — An unidentified man was killed when his car flipped over and tossed him onto the pavement on the eastbound Ventura Freeway near the junction with the San Diego Freeway, authorities said.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics at 2:55 a.m., said California Highway Patrol Officer Greg Nelson. CHP officers closed the two left lanes of the eastbound Ventura Freeway at 3:30 a.m., Nelson said. Later, the southbound transition road to east and west traffic on the freeway was closed from 7 until 8:45 a.m., Nelson said.
