Firms Reduce Hiring of College Grads: More than 90% of major Japanese companies are recruiting fewer college graduates this year than last, and 26% are cutting their number of hires by at least half, according to a survey by the financial newspaper Nihon Keizai Shimbun. The paper reported that 198 of 216 companies surveyed, or 92% plan to hire fewer graduates to start in spring 1994 than they did last fall for spring 1993.
