SPORTSCOPE : Loyola Marymount Women Beat St. Mary’s

The Loyola Marymount women’s volleyball team won a West Coast Conference road match Saturday night, defeating St. Mary’s, 15-5, 15-11, 8-15, 15-1.
The Lions improved to 18-5, 7-1 in the WCC. St. Mary’s is 7-14, 0-6.

The Cal State Dominguez Hills men’s and women’s soccer teams will play host to California Collegiate Athletic Assn. rival Cal Poly Pomona today.
The women (10-5-0, 2-2-0 in the CCAA) will play at 12:30 p.m. The men’s (6-6-1, 2-4-1) game is scheduled to start at 3.
The women, ranked 12th in NCAA Division II, have won their past eight home games, including a 4-3 overtime victory over Cal State San Bernardino on Wednesday. The Toros are led by Teresa Bateman, who has 10 goals and seven assists.

Three South Bay athletes will be inducted in to the San Pedro Walk of Fame in a ceremony in front of the San Pedro Sheraton on Nov. 8.
This year’s selections are Minnesota Twins catcher Brian Harper, Pepperdine baseball Coach Andy Lopez and Nick Buzolich, a basketball and tennis standout in the 1940s. Harper, Lopez and Buzolich attended San Pedro High.
