CITY SECTION FOOTBALL ROUNDUP : San Fernando Stays Tied for First, 26-0

Senior running back Derrick Rowe gained 144 yards in nine carries and scored once to lead San Fernando High to a 26-0 victory over Cleveland in a Northwest Valley Conference football game Friday night at Cleveland.
San Fernando (6-1, 4-0 in North Valley League play) remained in a first-place tie with Taft. Cleveland is 1-6, 0-4.
Senior wide receiver Flip Aguilar caught a 26-yard scoring pass from quarterback Leon Blunt to give the Tigers a 20-0 halftime advantage. Aguilar left the game because of a knee injury after the touchdown. He had intercepted quarterback Johnny Lopez’s pass and returned it 20 yards to the Cleveland 20 to set up the score.
Blunt completed two of nine passes for 41 yards and one touchdown and rushed for 75 yards in five carries. Running back LaVell Thompson added 57 yards in four carries, including a 43-yard touchdown in the first quarter.
Russell Burwell rushed for 71 yards in 18 carries for Cleveland.
