CALABASAS — About 2,500 Pacific Bell customers in Calabasas were left without telephone service Friday when someone cut the company’s telephone lines in two locations, a phone company spokeswoman said.
Service may not be restored to all of the affected customers until noon today, but company employees will work around the clock to make the necessary repairs, said Pacific Bell spokeswoman Linda Bonniksen.
In the meantime, the company has placed a bank of eight pay phones at the corner of Calabasas Road and Park Granada Boulevard for residents to use, Bonniksen said.
The company became aware of the problem about 8 a.m. Friday after it received complaints from residents. When crews arrived, they discovered wires in two B-boxes had been severed, Bonniksen said. Telephone lines enter the B-boxes before they branch off into homes or businesses.
The company’s corporate security department is investigating, Bonniksen said.
