BASEBALL / DAILY REPORT

The error charged against Philadelphia third baseman Dave Hollins in Game 4 was changed Thursday. Hollins was charged with a two-base error on a run-scoring grounder down the third-base line by Paul Molitor in the crucial eighth inning. Toronto, trailing 14-9 when the inning began, scored six runs to take the lead and win the game, 15-14.

With the change, Molitor was given a double and a run batted in, boosting his average to .533 (eight for 15) with six RBIs through four games of the World Series.

It also added another hit to the total of Game 4, tying a Series record for most hits in a game, with 32. Unfortunately for Phillie reliever Larry Andersen, it also boosted his earned-run total to 3.00 instead of 1.00. It also means that the longest game of any length and the highest-scoring game in Series history was played without an error.
