Shareholders OK Price-Costco Merger: Shareholders of San Diego-based Price Co. and Costco Wholesale Corp. of Kirkland, Wash., approved the proposal, which will create a new company, Price-Costco, that will operate 206 membership warehouse stores. Robert Price is chairman of Price-Costco, and Jim Sinegal of Costco becomes president of the merged firm. Price-Costco said the two retailers’ separate membership privileges will become interchangeable as of Nov. 1. The company will have headquarters both in San Diego and Kirkland.
