LAGUNA NIGUEL : Alicia Parkway Project Delayed

The opening of a 1 1/4-mile stretch of Alicia Parkway between Pacific Park Drive and Aliso Creek Road--originally scheduled for this month--will be delayed until at least December, a county official said.
County engineer Mits Okayama said the long-awaited six-lane section of road is being kept closed until traffic signals are installed. Because of an oversight by a private developer involved in the project, poles and other equipment for the traffic signals were only recently ordered.
Okayama said he expected the equipment would be delivered and installed in two to four months.
Meanwhile, a widening project on a short section of Alicia Parkway south of Aliso Creek Road also has been delayed until next month, Okayama said.
Completion of the section has been held up while the Moulton Niguel Water District realigns a pipe that the project contractor was not aware existed, Okayama said.
Construction on the road, which is being widened from two lanes to six lanes, should be finished by late November, he said.
