The Lobos rushed for 351 yards and were equally impressive defensively, sacking La Quinta quarterback Jason Gondringer six times and intercepting two of his passes.
Midway through the third quarter, Los Amigos Coach Steve Bolton called in reserves, who accounted for 228 yards rushing in the second half. Sophomore running back Greg Fausto led all rushers with 128 yards in 11 carries, including two touchdowns.
Los Amigos (5-1, 2-1) got on the board with 5 minutes 9 seconds left in the first quarter when Sauaga Leofa ran seven yards up the middle to give the Lobos a 6-0 lead.
After the Aztecs took a 7-6 lead on Gondringer’s one-yard sneak, Los Amigos running back Noah Tagatuali barreled over a defender at the goal line to finish a 16-yard touchdown run.
