Vodka Maker Switches to Seagram: A Swedish distiller has dumped Grand Metropolitan as the U.S. distributor for Absolut Vodka, which Grand Met built from nothing into the top American vodka import in a 13-year marketing campaign. Grand Met lost out amid concerns of Absolut’s distiller, state-owned Vin-and-Sprit of Stockholm, that conflicts could develop between sales of Absolut and two other popular Grand Met vodkas, Smirnoff and Popov.
