PALERMO, Sicily — A reputed Mafia boss has been charged with masterminding the car-bombing death of a top prosecutor and five of his guards, authorities said Saturday.
Salvatore Profeta was the fourth main suspect charged in the July, 1992, killing of Paolo Borsellino, whose death and that of another prosecutor in Sicily last year prompted a government anti-Mafia crackdown.
Profeta was arrested late Friday in the city of Piombino, 75 miles southwest of Florence, by authorities acting in part on information from mob suspects.
