South County Home: Speaking of spreading out . . .

An Austrian manufacturer of pharmaceutical products has found a new home in Lake Forest.

Bio-Health Inc., based in Mariapfarr, Austria, in June opened a distribution and sales office to market one of its products, a food-supplement capsule made of mare’s milk.

The company’s product, called Equimilk, has already been distributed throughout Europe for years and is now available in health food stores in Southern California, said company spokeswoman Lisa Zwick.

The capsules of dried mare’s milk, which closely resembles human milk in composition, are considered to be highly nutritious, promoting health in a natural way, Zwick said.

“It is a big health thing in Europe,” she said. “Now it’s made its way to the United States. It doesn’t take the place of a good diet. But it is good for you.”
