REGIONAL ROUNDUP : Boston College Gains Upset Over Syracuse

Glenn Foley passed for 423 yards and three touchdowns against the Big East Conference’s top pass defense and Darnell Campbell scored on a one-yard run late in the fourth quarter as Boston College beat No. 13 Syracuse, 33-29, Saturday at Syracuse, N.Y.
The Eagles sealed the victory when linebacker Brian Howlett intercepted a tipped pass by Marvin Graves inside the Boston College 10 with 1:20 left.
Boston College, 2-2 overall and 2-1 in the Big East, broke a six-game losing streak against the Orangemen and won for the first time in the Carrier Dome. The Eagles gained 558 yards against Syracuse (3-1-1, 0-1).
No. 18 Louisville 29, Pittsburgh 7--Jeff Brohm completed 22 of 40 passes for 340 yards and scrambled for a key first down to set up the first of two Louisville touchdowns in a 1:26 span of the third quarter at Pittsburgh.
Louisville is 5-0 for the first time since the 1972. Pitt (1-3) led 7-6 at halftime but could not contain Brohm in the second half.
No. 25 West Virginia 14, Virginia Tech 13--Rodney Woodard scored from less than a yard out on fourth and goal with 4:08 left as the Mountaineers (4-0, 1-0) won a Big East game against the Hokies (3-2, 1-2) at Morgantown, W.Va.
Bryan Fortay, making his first start of the season, passed for three touchdowns to lead Rutgers (3-1, 1-0) to a 62-0 Big East Conference victory over Temple (1-3, 0-2) at East Rutherford, N.J. . . . Rick Roper passed for 171 yards and two touchdowns, leading Army (3-1) to a 35-14 victory over Akron (2-2) at West Point, N.Y.
SOUTH
Bart Baldwin kicked a 43-yard field goal on the final play at New Orleans to give Tulane (2-3) a 27-25 victory over Navy (2-2).
Memphis State (3-2) intercepted six passes en route to a 34-7 nonconference victory over East Carolina (1-3) at Greenville, N.C. Steve Matthews passed for 287 yards and three first-half touchdowns for Memphis State.
SOUTHWEST
Fullback Phil Brown of Texas (1-2-1, 1-0) rushed for 184 yards and in a 55-38 victory over Rice (3-2, 0-1) at Austin, Tex. . . . Jimmy Klingler passed for three touchdowns as Houston (1-3) held off Baylor (3-2) in a 24-3 victory at Houston.
WEST
Ryan Yarborough of Wyoming (4-1, 2-0) caught seven passes for 241 yards and two touchdowns during a 31-18 Western Athletic Conference victory over Air Force (1-4, 0-4) at Colorado Springs. . . . Cornerback Eric Jack had recovered a fumble, intercepted a pass and blocked a punt to lead New Mexico (2-3, 1-2) to a 41-14 WAC victory over Hawaii (3-2, 2-1) at Albuquerque.
Mike Carter gained 119 yards and scored two touchdowns during Redlands’ (4-0, 2-0) 56-14 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory over Claremont (0-3, 0-2) at Claremont.
