First American Gets Vice President-General Counsel

Craig I. DeRoy has been appointed vice president-general counsel for First American Financial Corp. in Santa Ana and its principal subsidiary, First American Title Insurance Co. He is the company’s first general counsel. DeRoy was formerly executive vice president and chief operating officer of First Environmental Review Insurance Co. DeRoy’s earlier experience included three years with the Department of Justice as a deputy chief and assistant U.S. attorney in Los Angeles. In addition, Wayne M. Booth has been elected chairman of First American Real Estate Tax Service Inc., a Los Angeles-based subsidiary of First American Financial Corp., and John W. Long has been promoted to president. Succeeding Long as executive vice president is Mark D. Rogers, who had been senior vice president since 1991. Booth, a senior executive of First American Real Estate Tax Service since its inception in 1987, became president in 1988.
