SIMI VALLEY : Planners to Consider Permit for New Park

The Simi Valley Planning Commission tonight will consider issuing a permit to build a park on the city’s west end.
The Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District is requesting the permit for a long-planned three-acre park on the south side of Tierra Rejada Road, west of Madera Road.
The Beverly Hills-based Milner Investment Co., which is building an adjoining 231-unit single-family housing tract, donated the land for Stargaze Park.
The park’s construction will be funded by developer fees collected from other housing projects being developed in the area, said Don Hunt, assistant general manager of the park district.
Hunt said that work on the $300,000 park cannot begin until the Milner project is completed, which could be a year or more. Also, he said, construction drawings for the park will take at least six months to finalize.
When completed, the park will include a lighted basketball court, playground, picnic tables, landscaping and irrigation system.
The commission’s meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. at City Hall, 2929 Tapo Canyon Road.
