COMMUNITY COLLEGE FOOTBALL ROUNDUP : Cerritos Snaps Saddleback’s Winning Streak

Saddleback had its 20-game winning streak snapped Saturday as the Gauchos were defeated by Cerritos, 21-15, in a Mission Conference football game at Cerritos.
Cerritos opened an 18-0 lead early in the second quarter and hung on over Saddleback, which was ranked sixth in the J.C. Grid-Wire national poll. Saddleback went 11-0 and won the national championship last season.
Saddleback finally scored with 1 minute 40 seconds in the first half. Mike Fouts completed a 29-yard scoring pass to Reggie Carter. Fouts then completed the conversion pass to Kent Chantung to cut the lead to 18-8.
Saddleback made it 18-15 on a 33-yard run by Rod Hobbs in the third quarter, but Cerritos got a 24-yard field goal from Mike Rodriguez with 6:53 left.
In other Mission Conference games:
Fullerton 20, Pasadena 16--Ryan Roskelly scored on an 18-yard end around with 1:05 left to lift Fullerton (1-1) to its only lead of the game. Pasadena is 0-2. Fullerton’s other touchdown came on a 74-yard pass play from quarterback Josh Nelson to wide receiver Vince Wilson in the second quarter.
Wilson caught seven passes for 131 yards.
El Camino 28, Orange Coast 24--El Camino scored on a trick play with 4:04 left in the fourth quarter to rally past visiting Orange Coast (0-2). El Camino is 1-1.
Leandrew Childs, a wide receiver, completed a nine-yard touchdown pass to Dameon Porter to put El Camino ahead, 28-24. Orange Coast led, 24-14, after three quarters.
OCC quarterback Todd Mather was nine of 14 for 144 yards and two touchdowns.
